Overheard a guy at REI say his old coleman stove outlasted two jetboils

I've been eyeing a fancy lightweight stove for years but that comment made me realize I spend more time worrying about gear specs than actually using my stuff. Has anyone else gone back to older gear after chasing the newest thing?

My buddy still uses a white gas coleman from the 80s. Thing weighs like 5 pounds but it boils water in any weather. Meanwhile my jetboil crapped out after two seasons because the igniter broke and the pot support got bent. People act like new gear is magic but sometimes old stuff just works better because its built tougher. I switched back to a heavy msr whisperlite and honestly I don't miss the speed. Half the time setting up the jetboil took longer than just lighting a regular stove.
