Saw a guy at Joshua Tree last weekend using a $12 tarp as a tent footprint and it worked better than my $45 one
I was at Jumbo Rocks campground last Saturday and the guy in the site next to mine had a plain blue tarp cut to size under his tent. I asked him about it because I'd just paid $45 for a fitted footprint that same week. He said he'd been using the same tarp for 3 seasons and just cuts a new one when it wears out. Mine already has a tear at one corner after 2 trips. Has anyone else ditched the brand name footprints for a cheap tarp, or did I just get a bad one?
