Those $15 titanium sporks are a ripoff, the plastic ones last just as long if you don't bend them.

I dropped $30 on a fancy titanium spork set for my trip out to the Smokies last fall and after three meals I was back to using the free plastic one from the camp store because the metal one kept clanking against my pot and waking up my buddy.

...and honestly the clanking drove me nuts too lol. I ended up wrapping a bandana around the handle of the fancy spork just to muffle it, then it got all soggy and gross. Ended up tossing the whole thing in the trash and ate with the plastic one for the rest of the trip. My buddy still makes fun of me for blowing that cash.

The bandana trick is something I would have tried too, only to end up with the same soggy mess. It is amazing how something that seems so practical on paper becomes a total nuisance in real life. I finally gave up on all metal utensils for camping and just carry a good old plastic spork wrapped in a paper towel. My husband still brings up my "expensive mistake" every time we pack for a trip, and I just roll my eyes and hand him his plastic spork. At least we learned our lesson without having to drop money on any more fancy gear.
