Used a cheap pop-up canopy for two rainy trips and it ripped on the third

Bought a $45 canopy from the big box store for a weekend trip to the lake. First time it held up fine in light rain. Second time was a little windier but still okay. Third trip last month, a gust came through and the side panel just tore right off. I learned that you really need to check the denier rating on the fabric and not just go by the price. Has anyone found a mid-range canopy that holds up better without spending $300?

Man that's a bummer, I've been there myself a few times with cheap gear letting me down. Those budget canopies seem fine until you get that one gust or a solid rain that just exposes the weak spots. Have you looked at brands like Eurmax or Quik Shade for something in that $100-$150 range that actually lasts?

Eurmax was actually the one that finally worked for me after I went through like three cheaper ones in a single season. The first one I got from a big box store just folded up in a light breeze, second one lasted a bit longer but the frame bent after a good rain. Third one I tried to reinforce myself with some sandbags and extra stakes, still collapsed on me. Finally bit the bullet on a Eurmax and it's been through maybe six or seven storms now, still solid. The extra money upfront really does save you the headache of constantly replacing junk.
