Warning: tried that 'waterproof' tent sealant spray on a coleman and woke up soaked at 3am

The spray peeled off in sheets after one light rain and left sticky residue on my sleeping bag, has anyone else had this happen with a $15 can of that stuff from Walmart?

Learned that lesson the hard way tbh. Just bought a cheap tarp instead.

The cheap tarp is always the trap. Bought a 10 dollar one from the hardware store and it shredded in the first windstorm. Now I spend the extra 15 bucks for the heavy duty ones with the reinforced grommets. Sucks to pay more up front but way better than waking up at 3am to a tarp flapping loose over your stuff.
