A guy at the port in Newark quoted me $150 to move my car 40 feet
I was picking up my Civic from a terminal in Newark and the dispatcher told me gate fees for in and out plus a yard move would run me $150. I asked what the actual move was and he said about 40 feet from the holding row to the load lane. That works out to almost $4 a foot, which is more than I paid per mile on the whole trip from Chicago. Now I ask every broker for an all in quote that lists gate fees separate before I sign anything. Does anyone have a broker who rolls those port charges into the main price so there are no surprises at pickup?
