I finally stopped jumping on the cheapest car shipping quote after a broker in Phoenix ghosted me for 9 days
Bid $650 on a run from Phoenix to Denver, the guy stopped answering texts the day after pickup and my car sat in a yard for 9 days until I paid another $300 to get it moved. Now I look for a broker with a real DOT number and a posted address, so who do you all use when you actually need the car to show up?

Man, the DOT number and address thing is only half the battle. Half these brokers just slap their info on a site and subcontract to whoever answers the phone that day, so the paperwork looks clean and the actual driver is still a total mystery. What saved me was asking for the carrier's MC number before pickup and calling their insurance company myself to confirm it was active, because if the truck isn't insured your car is basically riding around naked. Do that check every single time and the ghosting stops being your problem.
