You save a grand up front and then spend the whole trip worrying about a cracked windshield or a missing mirror. I see it with houses too, folks skip the inspection to save a few hundred bucks and then eat five grand in surprises later. The cheap option only stays cheap if nothing goes wrong. With a car sitting open on a truck for 1,700 miles, something usually goes wrong.
