Paid $1,400 to ship my Civic from Phoenix to Seattle and the driver called me at 11pm asking for directions to the wrong address
I moved for a job last spring and figured a broker was worth it over driving it myself. The quote was $1,400 for an open carrier, pickup in a 3 day window, which sounded fine. Driver calls me at 11pm the night before pickup, lost, because the dispatch sheet had my apartment number from the old lease. Car showed up 6 days late in Seattle with a cracked mirror and nobody would answer the phone about the claim. Is $1,400 actually normal for that run or did I just get unlucky with the broker?
Nothing says "we care about your car" like dispatch using an address from a lease you already moved out of. Sounds like the broker just farmed your job out to the cheapest carrier they could find and cashed the difference. 1400 for Phoenix to Seattle isn't crazy, maybe a little high for an open carrier, but the real problem is you picked a broker who disappears the second something goes wrong. That cracked mirror claim is never getting paid, they all play the same game of pass the phone. Next time go direct with a carrier that actually has their own trucks, because a broker's only job is to take your money and point fingers.
