I store my 68 Chevelle in a buddy's barn outside of Madison every November, and for the past 4 winters I've tossed a couple dryer sheets under the seats and in the trunk before I put the cover on. I found out about this because a guy at a car show in Rockford told me mice hate the smell, and I figured it was worth a shot since I'd already lost a wiring harness to them back in 2019. Well, I pulled the cover off in April and the interior smelled like a fresh laundry room, no chewed wires, no little droppings anywhere. My neighbor Dave stored his Camaro right next to mine and just used a bar of Irish Spring like his dad taught him, and he had a nest in his glovebox. So now I'm the weird guy handing out dryer sheets to everybody on the block before storage season, and honestly I'll take the ribbing. The thing nobody mentions is that you have to swap them out if you're storing longer than a few months or they just go stale and stop working. Has anybody else tried this, and did it actually hold up for a full year or do I need to refresh them halfway through?
