Update: I moved my dad's 1969 Camaro out of my sister's garage and it took me 11 months to actually fit it in mine
When my sister sold her house in Aurora last spring, she told me I had 60 days to get Dad's Camaro out of her third bay. I figured no problem, I will just roll it into my own garage in Naperville. Except my garage is a two car with a workbench on the left wall and bikes hanging from the ceiling. First I measured and thought I had 3 inches of clearance on each side. I was wrong by about 2 inches because of the mirrors. So I pulled the workbench off the wall and patched the drywall, that ate a weekend. Then the ceiling bikes had to go up into the attic, which meant cutting a bigger hatch. By the time I got the car in there it was February, so yeah, 11 months for a 40 minute drive. The thing that finally did it was a $60 set of wheel dollies from Harbor Freight so I could push the rear end sideways by myself. Now it sits with maybe a fist of space on each side and I have to climb out the trunk. How tight is everyone else's fit, and did you ever have to give up something in the garage to make room?
Climbing out the trunk is a mental image I will be carrying around all day. My fit is so tight I have to fold the mirrors in just to walk past the car, and I still bump my hip on the fender every single time. I gave up my mower's parking spot for it, so now the mower lives under a tarp behind the shed like it did something wrong. A fist of space on each side sounds about right, and honestly the wheel dollies are the only reason I still have my sanity.
