Am I the only one who thinks 'follow your passion' is bad advice for most people
I was at a job fair in Columbus two years ago and this recruiter from a logistics company gave a talk where he said he hires for reliability and willingness to learn, not passion. He said he has seen tons of passionate people quit in four months when the work got boring. I had been feeling bad that I didn't have some big passion for my job, but hearing that made me stop worrying about it. Now I just look for work I don't hate that pays my bills and lets me leave at 5. Has anyone else found that chasing a passion actually made their career worse?
