Had the worst week of my career after one client changed their mind on a 3 month project 2 days before deadline

I lost $4,200 in billable hours when the client at that marketing firm in Austin decided they wanted a completely different direction and then blamed me for the delay, so has anyone else had a client just pull the rug like that and how did you handle getting paid?

Changed their mind 2 days before" is brutal, same thing happened to me last fall with a logo redesign.
