Hit 100 job applications and got 3 interviews - that ratio stung

I tracked every single application I sent out last year (using a simple spreadsheet) and 100 submissions only turned into 3 actual interviews. That 3% callback rate made me completely rethink how I was writing cover letters and tailoring resumes, since clearly spraying and praying wasn't working. Anyone else keep a hard count of their application numbers and get a rude awakening?

Yeah that ratio hits hard. I did the same thing with a spreadsheet last year and got almost identical numbers. 97 applications, 2 interviews, and one of those turned into a ghost after the second round. It's brutal when you see it all laid out like that, makes you wonder what you're even doing wrong. Started spending way more time on each application after that, like really digging into the job description and tweaking my resume for every single one. Still not getting tons of callbacks but at least I feel like I'm not just throwing stuff into the void anymore. The spray and pray method definitely feels good in the moment cause you're getting tons of apps out but the data don't lie.

Did you track how many of those apps matched your actual skills?
