I finally added up how much I spent on those 'get hired fast' resume templates
Burned almost $400 over two years on fancy designs before realizing a clean, simple doc got way more calls back. Anyone have a go-to free template they actually trust?

Wait, you spent $400 on just the templates? That's a whole tire for my rig. I saw some of those fancy ones with sidebars and colors, they look like a party flyer, not a resume. My buddy in HR says their system just chokes on all the graphics anyway. Plain text in a normal font always gets through.

My last company's scanner rejected my resume for a single colored line.

Yeah, those scanners are way more basic than people think. I strip all formatting and paste the text into Notepad first. If it looks good as plain text, it will scan. Colors, lines, even fancy bullet points can break the system. A clean Word doc with standard headings always works.
