Money is a terrible boss" is a good line, but I've had good bosses who paid well. The real issue is when the job itself is the problem, paycheck or not.

Learn that lesson the hard way too. Money is a terrible boss. It makes you ignore all the red flags you would see in a normal job. You trade your time for a paycheck that never feels like enough. Now you know why your dad said it.

Honestly, what was the breaking point that made you quit? I feel like a lot of people know it's bad but stick it out for way too long. You must have hit a wall where the money just wasn't worth the daily misery anymore.
