PSA: Spent $800 on a career coaching program that was basically just YouTube videos
After three months of generic worksheets and a coach who barely remembered my name, I realized I could have saved the money by just joining a free industry Slack group and asking real people questions instead.

True, free communities can be way more useful than those generic programs. Just keep in mind that a good career coach actually does more than just point you to resources, they help you figure out your blind spots and keep you accountable. Did you find that Slack group helped you make a real plan or just gave you general advice?

Maybe it's just me but a good coach is worth way more than random Slack advice.

Did you see my friend stuck in the same job for 3 years after taking a free Slack group's advice?
