Switched from asking for permission to asking for forgiveness at work

Used to double-check everything with my boss. Every tiny decision. Wanted to cover my ass. Then last January we had a huge inventory mess at the warehouse. Shipping was backed up 3 days. Boss was in meetings all morning. I just made a call to reroute a truck and fixed it myself. He didn't even blink. Actually said 'good thinking.' Been doing it ever since. You save way more time. Has anyone else found that managers actually respect you more when you stop asking?

Yeah that worked for me too. Boss was just glad I fixed it.

Old boss would have still found something to complain about. Nice when they just appreciate the fix and move on. Keeps things simple.
