Switched from cold emailing to LinkedIn DMs for job hunting

Used to blast out 50 cold emails a day for 6 months straight. Nothing. Then a buddy at a startup said try DMs instead. Started sending 10 a day on LinkedIn with a quick note about their recent post. Got 3 interviews in 2 weeks. Way less spammy. Anyone else seen better results with DMs over email?

Honestly the email numbers might have been part of the issue there. 50 a day is way too many for real personal outreach, people can smell the template from a mile away. DMs work better cause you're forced to be more specific and actually react to something they said.

Man thats exactly what I was thinking when I read your post. I made the same mistake a while back and burned through a ton of good leads cause I was just blasting out these generic emails that all sounded the same. 50 a day? I tried that grind for two weeks and got like three replies total, and two of them were politely telling me to stop. With DMs you actually have to look at someones profile and find something to hook onto, which slows you down but makes every message feel alive. People can tell when you actually read their stuff versus when you just copied a template from some guru. That personal touch is the only thing that cuts through the noise anymore.
