The job ad that asked for 7 years of experience in a software from 2021
I was scanning listings last Tuesday and found a posting for a marketing coordinator role in Austin. It wanted 7 years of experience with a specific analytics tool that only launched in 2021. That means they were asking for experience before the product even existed. I checked the company website and they had a whole page bragging about using that tool for their campaigns. Either the job was written by someone who just copied a template, or they genuinely think time travel is a skill. Has anyone else noticed these impossible experience requirements creeping into entry level posts lately?

That Austin posting probably got spit out by an ATS filter that just stacks years from the last person who had the title, so the magic number was 7 no matter what the tool was. The real tell is the company page bragging about the same tool, meaning HR and marketing never talked once.
