TIL most recruiters spend only 6 seconds scanning a resume
I read this stat on some HR blog last night and it blew my mind. I spent hours tweaking every little detail on mine, but apparently they just glance at the top third and move on. Has anyone else changed their resume layout after hearing this?

And I'm over here making sure my fonts match and the margins are perfect like it's a wedding invitation. I think @veraj53 has it right though, might be time to stop treating my resume like a novel and start treating it like a billboard. I'm just hoping the recruiters don't spot the creative license I took with "team leadership" meaning I once showed a new guy where the break room was.

The whole "billboard" approach feels like a trend that'll age badly. If I'm hiring for a detail oriented role and someone's resume looks like a poster, I'm gonna wonder if they can actually write a proper email. And that stat about 6 seconds? Could be garbage from some clickbait blog, lots of companies still use real humans who actually read this stuff.

Yeah that stat made me toss my whole old layout. Now my name and top job title are huge at the top with bullet points for key wins.
