Unpopular opinion: cold emailing works way better than networking events for introverts

I used to force myself to go to these big tech meetups in Seattle and just stand in the corner feeling awkward. Then last October I started sending cold emails to 5 people a week instead. Got 3 interviews from it, way more than the zero I got from the meetups. Anyone else ditch the networking events for this approach?

Cold emails probably work better because you can actually explain your specific skills without someone's eyes glazing over after thirty seconds of small talk. What kind of subject lines did you use that actually got replies? I've been getting a lot of form rejections or nothing at all, wondering if my approach is off.
