Watched a guy go from answering phones to running the whole kitchen in 14 months, because he did one thing nobody else would
When I started at this spot in Sacramento, Marcus was the phone guy making $16 an hour, and 14 months later he was running the whole line while the rest of us were still stuck on the same station. The difference was that he asked the chef every single shift what he could learn next, and the guy actually showed him stuff instead of just tossing him a towel and walking off. So here's my question for you all, when you wanted out of a dead end role, did you ask for more work or wait for someone to hand it to you?
