Caught a bit of a podcast where a guy was talking about old barn framing in Vermont

He mentioned they used to cut the main beams with a 1 in 12 pitch on the bottom for water runoff, even on a flat floor. Never really thought about that detail before. Has anyone run into that on a restoration job and had to match it?
