Heard a guy at the lumber yard say "measure twice, cut once is outdated"... got me thinking

Oh man, I feel this so hard... my buddy convinced me to try his "eyeball it and adjust as you go" method on a deck project last summer. Three days later I was ripping out half the joists because nothing was square... measuring once after that disaster took me twice as long as just doing it right the first time. Some people really think new tools make the basics obsolete, but gravity and angles don't care how fancy your tape is. I'll stick with my old school methods and keep my sanity intact...

Outdated? Sounds like that guy has NEVER had to rip out a whole section of framing because he eyeballed it and ended up two inches short. I bet his "modern method" involves a laser tape and a lot of swearing. Let me know how that works out when he's trying to fit a window into a hole that's now a trapezoid.
