Is it worth buying cheap chisels or just throwing money away?

I grabbed a $15 set of six chisels from Harbor Freight last month and after three door hinges they're all chipped and dull. Did I just burn $15 or is there a way to make these things hold an edge?

Spend the money on one good chisel instead of six bad ones, isn't that the obvious answer? You already know what happens when you cheap out on tools.

Don't you hate it when you try to save a few bucks and end up with a tool that bends on the second use? Ive been there more times than I want to admit. @wesley385 you hit the nail right on the head. Cheap chisels just don't hold an edge and they chip way too easy. You end up spending more time sharpening and fixing them than actually working. Its way better to buy one good chisel that'll last you years than a whole set of junk youll replace in six months.
