Still thinking about the old timer in Bakersfield who told me my dovetails were too perfect
He said a joint that clean shows you spent more time fussing than building, and that a real carpenter knows when good enough is good enough. Anybody else run into folks who think precision is a bad thing?

Nah, I gotta disagree with that old timer. Precision's never a bad thing if you've got the time for it, that's just how you get better at your craft.

Brooke, you're out here defending the "old timer" like he's some wise sage (and maybe he is, who knows). I'm just picturing this guy with a measuring tape and a stopwatch, timing how precise his morning coffee pour is. "Sorry, that's 3.2 seconds off, gotta dump it out and start over." Precision is great and all, but there's a line between being good at your craft and being the guy who brings a level to a picnic table.
