Warning: check your nail gun after a bad batch, I lost 4 hours on a Cedar Rapids job
Had one of those weeks where nothing went right, and it all came back to my finish nailer. Tuesday I was trimming out a kitchen in Cedar Rapids and the nails kept sinking too deep or not at all, so I figured it was me. I must have pulled 30 crooked nails out of a single window casing before I checked the gun. Turns out the driver blade had a burr and the tip was chewed up, probably from running 2 inch nails into old oak all winter. New driver kit ran me $34 and the rest of the week went smooth, finished the whole trim set in a day and a half. Now I think about how much time I lose blaming myself for a tool problem. How often do you all tear down your guns for a real look instead of just adding oil?
Reading that you pulled 30 nails out of one casing before checking the gun made me cringe, dude. That is brutal. I know that feeling way too well, where you just keep blaming your own hands and keep fighting the same stupid problem over and over. A burr on the driver blade would never have crossed my mind either, I would have been out there adding oil and cussing at myself all day. $34 and a day and a half of lost time is a rough trade, but at least you know now. Gonna pull the tip on my gun tonight and actually look at it instead of just guessing.
