Found a cheap trick for hiding seam tape on patterned carpets
I was installing a berber with this busy diamond pattern last week at a house over in Oakwood. The seams kept showing because the pattern was so bold and my usual method of just pressing harder wasn't cutting it. On a whim, I grabbed a cheap heat gun from Harbor Freight, set it on low, and gently warmed the tape before rolling it. It made the adhesive grip way better and the seam practically disappeared after I stretched and trimmed a little extra. Saved me from having to redo a 12 foot seam that would have taken another hour and a half. Has anyone else tried heating the tape like that, or do you just stick with the cold press method?

I mean I get what you're going for but honestly I've had heat guns mess up the backing on berber before if you're not crazy careful with the distance. Maybe it's just me but I'd rather spend the extra time cold pressing than risk melting through and having a customer call me back.

That "cold press method" dakota_patel98 mentioned, yeah my version of it usually involves me pressing my burnt fingers into the carpet and cussing. I tried the heat gun trick and ended up melting a zipper pull on my hoodie when I leaned in too close, so now I look like I got attacked by a small angry animal. But hey, the seam looked great after I put out the little smoke cloud.
