Hit 500 installs last month, never thought I'd change my mind about seaming
Been doing carpet for like 8 years now. Always thought seaming tape was seaming tape, you know? Cheap stuff worked fine in my book. But last month I hit 500 total installs, and on that job in a hotel hallway outside Columbus, the cheap tape I always used just curled up on me twice. Had to redo the seam three times. Finally borrowed the good moisture barrier tape from the guy next door and it held perfect on the first try. I mean, maybe it's just me, but hitting that number made me realize I should've upgraded years ago. Anyone else hit a milestone and suddenly saw their old methods differently?

Watched a guy spend six hours on one seam with cheap tape once. Six hours. He kept rolling it and it kept lifting at the edges like it was alive. Hotel hallway too, so every cart that rolled by was basically a test run. The fact that you redid yours three times and still had patience left is honestly wild to me. I would've been sitting on the floor questioning my whole career.
