I used to think those fancy knee pads were a waste of cash

I mean, for years I just used the basic foam ones that came with my tool belt. They were fine, I thought. Then my knees started really hurting after a long day on a concrete subfloor in a new build over in Springfield. I finally caved and bought a pair of those ProKnees with the gel and the hard shell. They were about $180, which felt crazy for knee pads. But man, after a full week of doing a whole house, the difference was night and day. No more aching when I stand up, and I can actually focus on my seams instead of shifting around trying to get comfortable. It was one of those things I had to feel for myself to believe. Anyone have a good alternative brand that's a bit less pricey but still gives that kind of support?

Read a review saying the Troxell pads are almost as good for half the price.

Night and day" is right! I had the same moment of truth, but mine was after I spent a whole day thinking my knees were just getting old. Turns out it was just those terrible foam pads! I guess we all have to learn the hard way that sometimes the fancy gear is just basic body insurance. My wallet cried a little too, but my knees threw a party.
