Power stretcher only for big rooms, huh? Tell that to my 6 foot hallway
I keep seeing guys knee-kick everything under 10 feet because they say a power stretcher is overkill. Then they wonder why the seams open up after 6 months and the customer calls back. I did a hallway in a 1930s bungalow in Portland last week, 42 inches wide, and ran the power stretcher with a wall grip, took me maybe 4 extra minutes total. The nap laid flat and the backing had zero ripples, something a knee kicker just cannot do on tight weave. Why are we the only trade that skips the right tool when the wrong one costs us a callback every time? Has anyone else dealt with homeowners who point at the seam and ask if that gap was there yesterday?
