Tack strip vs glue down in a 200 year old house
Had to choose between tack strips and glue down for a living room install in a house built in 1820 last week, and I went with glue because I was worried about the old subfloor splintering lol. Everything was going fine until I realized the floor was so uneven that the glue didn't even touch in some spots, ended up using double-sided carpet tape to save the job. Any of you guys dealt with a floor that wavy and had to just roll with it?

That old wood'll humble any floor project real fast.

Oh man, but that old wood can be the best part if you know what to look for. It's not that old growth lumber is hard to work with, it's just that you have to approach it differently than the new stuff. A lot of folks don't realize that those tight grain lines mean it's way denser and less forgiving on your blades and nails.
