Tried a seam roller on my knee kicker and it actually worked

Been fighting with this stubborn stretch for months, especially on thicker carpets where the knee kicker just wouldn't grab right. Last week I grabbed a seam roller and ran it along the backing before kicking, and it flattened out the wrinkles like magic. No more wrestling with the carpet for 20 minutes on every room. Has anyone else tried something weird like that to fix a common problem?

Wait, double sided tape on the kicker head? That actually stuck long enough to do anything? I mean I have to try that next time, that sounds crazy enough to work.

Yeah I've done something similar actually. The roller trick works way better than most people expect because it really presses those backing fibers down flat so the teeth on the kicker can actually bite in. I've also had luck using a stiff bristle brush to rough up the backing a little before kicking, especially on that really slick commercial grade stuff where nothing seems to stick. Another thing that helped me was putting a little bit of double sided tape on the kicker head itself, just temporary like, to give it more grip on the first couple kicks. But honestly the seam roller is probably the simplest fix, I do it on every install now just to save my knees from all that extra pounding.
