Update: My crew split on trimming carpet before or after stretching
We just finished a big office job where the carpet edges needed neat cuts. Half the team says trim after stretching for a perfect fit, the other half trims first to avoid waste. Which way gives the best results in your experience?

Ever run into a floor that isn't perfectly square? That's why I always stretch first. Trim a carpet to fit a room's edge before stretching, and you might find a corner that pulls tight and leaves a gap somewhere else. I saw a half-inch gap open up along a wall once because the piece was cut for the wrong tension. Trimming after the stretch locks in the actual fit.

My buddy trimmed first on a hotel lobby job and ruined a whole section... he never skips the stretch first now.
