Watched an old crew lay carpet in a church basement back in 2003 and they still used a knee kicker for everything.
That job made me realize how much speed you lose with a knee kicker compared to a power stretcher, but man those guys had their seams perfect with zero extra cuts - has anyone else picked up tricks from watching the older guys work?

Watched an old timer hand-knee a whole commercial hallway once, no stretcher at all. His seams were tighter than anything I've done with a power tool.

My buddy Dave helped his grandpa lay carpet back in 2012 and said the guy could judge a perfect seam just by running his thumb across it. No tape, no kicker, just decades of muscle memory. Makes you wonder how much of the old school stuff we're missing out on now, right?
