I was stuck waiting for 45 minutes and ended up talking to an older guy about his dog, which led to him connecting me with a client who needed a full bathroom re-pipe. Has a random conversation ever landed you work like that?

Ever get a job from a random compliment? I once told a guy at the hardware store I liked his truck's paint job, and he hired me to paint his fence the next week. It's wild how often just being friendly opens a door.

That's a nice story but honestly it feels like a lucky break. I've given tons of compliments that just get a quick "thanks" and that's it. Most people are just trying to get through their day, not hand out work. Being friendly is good, but I wouldn't count on it paying the bills.
