Changed my mind about talking to strangers after a rainy day in Seattle

I was stuck under an awning on 3rd Avenue last month, waiting out a downpour and feeling pretty grumpy about it. This older guy named Frank started chatting about the weather, which led to him telling me about a volunteer group that fixes up community gardens. I ended up joining them the next weekend and have met some of the best people. Has anyone else had a random chat turn into something that good?

Totally get that, @reese_nelson! My book club started from a chat about coffee in a grocery line.
