Gave $50 to a guy fixing a laptop at a bus stop. Got a fake part back.
I was waiting for the 7 bus in Austin last summer when this guy asked if I could front him cash for a replacement battery. Said his shop was across town and he'd mail me the money in a week. He even showed me a broken MacBook. I handed over 50 bucks and got a dead SSD in a padded envelope two weeks later. Anyone else been suckered by a street hardware pitch?

No way, he actually mailed you a dead SSD? That's next level scamming right there. Who even has a dead SSD lying around just waiting to be mailed to some random guy? I gotta give him credit for commitment, even if it's total BS.

Wait, he showed you a broken MacBook and you still handed over cash? That's bold, man. Fifty bucks for a dead SSD in the mail, that's wild.
