Got into an argument at the hardware store over whether I should pre-drill or just use self-tapping screws. The guy behind me in line wasn't on either side, just said "depends on the wood type" and walked off. That comment made me realize I'd been drilling everything the same way for 15 years without thinking. Do you stick with one method or adjust per material?

My buddy snapped a drill bit in half last week figuring that out the hard way.
