Got stuck in an elevator with a stranger for 45 minutes last Tuesday
I was heading to the dentist on the 8th floor when the elevator just STOPPED between floors. This older woman named Carol was in there with me and she didn't even panic. She started telling me about how she volunteers reading to kids at the library and honestly it made me forget we were stuck. We exchanged numbers after we got rescued and now I go with her every Thursday afternoon to help out. Has anyone else met someone cool during a random inconvenience?

Push back a little on the awkwardness thing, idk. Once Carol started talking about the kids and how they get so into the stories, it just felt like we were two normal people having a conversation, not strangers trapped in a box. Maybe it's just me but when someone's genuine like that, the awkwardness kind of disappears on its own.

@dakota_patel98 might know, but my van broke down once and a guy talked about his beekeeping hobby for two hours.

Read an article that said something like 1 in 3 people meet someone important during a random delay or breakdown. Carol sounds like a gem, reading to kids is such a cool thing to volunteer for. How did you get over the awkwardness of being trapped in a tiny box with her at first?
