Just realized a five-minute chat at a bus stop changed my mind about my whole neighborhood
I was waiting for the 7:15 bus in the rain, feeling pretty down about moving here, when an older man shared his umbrella and told me, 'This city has a hard shell, but the people inside are soft.' He pointed out three places on our block where neighbors help each other, like the corner store that holds packages. I've lived here six months now and I see what he meant. Has a small act from a stranger ever completely flipped your view of a place?

My old view of Chicago changed after a barista paid for my coffee when my card failed.

Hey, that's a great story, but Chicago's always had that kind heart!
