Just realized that $40 blanket I bought at a gas station in Wyoming was the best money I ever spent

I was driving through Rock Springs on a road trip last March and my car heater died. This little shop had a rack of fleece blankets for $40 and I grabbed one on a whim. Now I use it every single night on my couch and it's way warmer than the fancy $100 throw I bought from Target. Has anyone else gotten lucky with a random roadside purchase?

Gas station blankets are fine for emergencies but $40 is a lot for one of those. I picked up a similar one in Nevada and it pilled up after two washes, totally fell apart. Those roadside shops mark up cheap stuff for travelers who have no choice. Your car heater dying is a bad situation, sure, but I bet you could have found the same blanket for $15 at a Walmart once you got to the next town. Target throws are hit or miss but at least you can return them if they're junk. Glad yours worked out but I'm not convinced it's some hidden gem.

Burned $40 and two washes just to learn a lesson the hard way.
