Last Wednesday at the laundromat in Austin turned my week around completely.
I spilled coffee on my only good shirt and had to rush to the 24-hour place on Lamar. Ended up chatting with a retired mechanic who fixed my dryer rattle with a quarter he found on the floor. Has anyone else had a random stranger solve a small problem like that out of nowhere?

My dryer ate 47 cents last week and I'm still bitter about it.

Hold on, I'm gonna play the other side of this. A stranger messing with your dryer by jamming a quarter in it is not "solving a problem," that's just a lucky accident. Most of the time a random person who says "let me fix that" ends up making things worse or lifting something they shouldn't. I'd rather deal with company maintenance than let some retired guy with a quarter and zero liability touch my machine. People butting in where they're not asked usually leads to more drama than it saves.
