Met a guy at the bus stop in Phoenix who ended up being my new boss

We were both stuck in the rain last month and started talking about graphic design, and he hired me on the spot for a freelance project. Anyone else get a job from a random chat like that?

Sounds like a total fluke that could backfire big time. Getting hired on the spot from a bus stop chat means there was no real hiring process. That guy didn't check your past work or talk to any references. What happens when the project goes south and you're stuck with a boss who only knows you from one rainy day? Real jobs come from real interviews, not just luck.

Guess you've never heard of networking. Sometimes a good chat in the rain shows more about a person than a stack of resumes. That "fluke" is how a lot of real connections start. Maybe the project will go south, but that's true for any hire, even with ten interviews. Sounds like someone's bitter about their last job hunt.
