Met a guy at the laundromat who told me to stop waiting for the 'right time'

My dryer broke last Tuesday, so I was stuck at the Spin Cycle on 5th. This older guy, maybe in his 70s, was folding his shirts perfectly. We started talking about nothing, and he mentioned he'd just signed up for a pottery class. I said something like 'I've always wanted to try that, maybe next year.' He looked right at me and said, 'Next year is a story you tell yourself to feel better about today.' It hit me hard because I do that with everything. Has anyone else had a random comment just stop you in your tracks like that?

But what if waiting IS the right move sometimes? I feel like some things really DO need the right timing, like saving money for a trip or learning a new skill when you're actually ready.

Yeah but there's a difference between waiting and planning. Saving up for a trip or learning a skill when you're ready is setting yourself up to succeed. Sitting around hoping the stars align is just stalling.

Waiting just means you're scared to start. The right time is usually now.
