Showerthought: That random conversation at a bus stop in Austin
I was waiting for the 3 bus on Guadalupe last Tuesday, and this older guy just starts talking about how he grows his own peppers on his balcony. Turned out he runs a small hot sauce booth at the farmer's market downtown. He gave me a sample of his habanero mango blend right there from a little bottle in his bag. Has anyone else had a random chat like that turn into a regular thing you actually look forward to?

Man I gotta be honest, I'm kind of the opposite on this. I had a guy at a bus stop in Dallas tell me for 20 minutes about his chili recipe and I was just praying my bus would show up. It's nice that some folks enjoy those connections but I don't trust random people handing me food from their bag, you know? How do you know that bottle didn't have something funky growing in it?

Talking peppers at a bus stop turned into me getting free samples every Saturday for a month.
