Stumbled on a stat about how many books never get finished

Tbh I was scrolling through some reading stats on a site last week and found out that nearly 1 in 4 books purchased in the US never get read past page 18. That blew my mind because I always assumed people just gave up halfway through if they didn't like it. Found that detail buried in a report from a publishing survey thing. Has anyone else seen data like this that made you rethink how you read?

Page 18 seems like a very specific cutoff point, I wonder if that stat is just from one small study that doesn't really represent the whole country. People set aside books for all kinds of reasons that have nothing to do with giving up on reading.
