Tried asking a stranger for their opinion on a work problem and it actually helped

I was stuck on a scheduling conflict at my warehouse job, and out of nowhere this older guy at the coffee shop asked what I was frowning at. I explained it, he gave me some simple fix about rotating shifts, and it worked first try. Has anyone else gotten good advice from a random person when they least expected it?

Love hearing stories like this. It's funny how someone with zero context can just cut right to the heart of it while you're over here spinning your wheels. I had a similar thing happen at the hardware store last year, guy in line behind me overheard me complaining about a leaky pipe and just casually said "check the gasket, not the valve" and walked off. Saved me three hours and forty bucks. Sometimes our brains get so locked into one way of thinking we can't see the obvious stuff right in front of us.

Man I had a buddy look at my truck's engine problem for five minutes and found a loose wire I'd been chasing for two weeks. Fresh eyes really ARE the secret weapon sometimes.
