Unpopular opinion: the guy at the bus stop in Albuquerque who told me to skip the networking event was right
Two years ago a retired salesman named Walt at a bus stop on Central Ave told me to skip a big networking mixer and just grab coffee with one person instead, and I thought that was soft advice at the time. I tried it anyway and that one coffee turned into a job lead about 3 weeks later while my friends who worked the whole room got nothing. Am I crazy for thinking one real conversation beats a room full of handshakes?
